Prisoners Of Shothik Itihash

This book was originally published in 2014 as companion to Mohaiemen’s solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Basel. The second edition (2025) has been published by Mandas, Kolkata. Naeem Mohaiemen’s project Prisoners of Shothik Itihash, curated by Adam Szymczyk, proposes the idea of a different reckoning of universal history.

This publication, twinned with the show, brings together essays and images by Mohaiemen that span the historical years 1929-1979, along with diary excerpts from “doomed” protagonists.
